Manuscript Critique Guidelines

Woodrow Wilson once said, "I not only use all the brains I have but all that I can borrow." Could you use some extra brain-power on your manuscript in progress? If so, you can affordably "borrow" that of a SPIRIT-LED WRITER. Here's how:

Submitting a Project

1. Review list of projects accepted.
2. Submit manuscript to helpinghands at spiritledwriter.com .
3. Submit payment. Payment must be submitted the same day as manuscript. We prefer PayPal payment (PayPal email ID will be provided upon receipt of manuscript). Money order and personal checks also accepted. We will review manuscripts once monies have cleared your PayPal or bank account. Thus, you can expect return of your critiqued manuscript usually within 7 business days

Projects Accepted

SPIRIT-LED WRITER critiques are available for the following projects, at the following prices. All manuscripts must be in a readable, 12 point font. We do not accept attachments. Note: Critiques are not ghostwriting assignments. We will not rewrite manuscripts. We will make suggestions and recommendations.

NON-FICTION

Query letter

Pages: 1 (max; single spaced)
Fee: $15
Note: If your query is targeted to a specific market, please let us know.
Bonus: We will provide 2 market recommendations for additional $10 fee

Article -- Essay, how-to, profile, interview/journalistic, columns

Word count: 1,500 words (max)
Fee: $25
Word count: 1,500 - 2,500 words (max)
Fee: $35
Note: If a contest entry, please provide rules

Filler -- Essay, humor, devotionals, etc.

Word count: 600 words (max)
Fee: $20

Book Proposal

Chapter/Page count: Synopsis and 1-2 Chapters (15 pages max)
Fee: $50

FICTION

Articles/Short Stories -- Various

Word count: 1,500 words (max)

Filler/shorts -- Various

Book

Chapter/Page count: Synopsis and 1-2 chapters (15 pages max); or first 3 chapters (15 pages max)

One act play or a set of 10-15 skits

CONTESTS

Note: If manuscript is a contest entry, please provide rules/link so professionals can determine whether you've met the basic format, etc. requirements.

WEB SITES

Small sites -- 10 pages and under

Basic content check (grammar/spelling)
Fee: $30

Full H.O.M.E. review: Handling (navigation), Outward appearance (text/color/graphics), Modern (links working; readers returning?), Essence (content is educational/entertaining).
Fee: $60

Large sites -- 11 pages and over

Basic content check (grammar/spelling)
